About the Teknikdalen Foundation
Since 1988 the foundation Stiftelsen Teknikdalen has striven to help innovators, entrepreneurs and small businesses to develop their business ideas.
Stiftelsen Teknikdalen gathers and disseminates contacts between different businesses and institutions, contributes with know-how and supports in the work of development, and is responsible for and runs a number of projects.
In the beginning our goal was:
"To promote work in research and development at a qualitatively high level, primarily in the field of technology in Dalarna and Bergslagen and to work to promote a deeper collaboration between businesses, the teaching of technology at Dalarna University, other teaching in advanced technology, research organisations and public institutions"
Since that our goal has broadened to include other sectors than technology as well.
History
The initiative to the foundation of Stiftelsen Teknikdalen came from Stora Enso, Swedbank, SSAB, Swedish National Road Administration and Borlänge Municipality. The idea was to provide
the entrepreneurs with access to competence through promoting networking. Ultimately this will lead to greater enterprise and more job opportunities.
Over the years the Teknikdalen Foundation has helped initiate around fifty projects. In collaboration with Dalarna University we have brought together researchers and
businesses to create a masters programme in ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems and Services). Within the field of materials refinement we have helped develop two advanced laboratories
used by various companies and the university.
Board
The Board of Stiftelsen Teknikdalen consists of representatives of the founders. These are: Stora Enso, Swedbank, SSAB, Swedish National Road Administration*, Borlänge municipality.
In addition, Dalarna University, Swedish National Rail Administration* and Falun municipality are represented on the Board.
