About the Teknikdalen Foundation
Since 1988 Stiftelsen Teknikdalen (The Teknikdalen Foundation) has striven to help innovators and small entrepreneurs to develop their business ideas. One of the Foundation's tasks is to develop the University of Dalarna. So far it has exceeded our highest expectations. Nevertheless we continue tirelessly to work towards our goal.
"To promote work in research and development at a qualitatively high level, primarily in the field of technology in Dalarna and Bergslagen and to work to promote a deeper collaboration between businesses, the teaching of technology at the University of Dalarna, other teaching in advanced technology, research organisations and public institutions"
In concrete terms this means that the Teknikdalen Foundation gathers and disseminates contacts between different businesses and institutions, contributes with know-how and support in the work of development, and is responsible for and runs a number of projects within the profile areas.
History
The initiative to Teknikdalen Foundatrion came from Stora Enso, Swedbank, SSAB, Swedish National Road Administration and Borlänge Municipality. The idea was to provide the entrepreneurs
with access to competence (both other people's as well as each other's) through promoting networking. Ultimately this will lead to greater enterprise and more job opportunities.
Over the years the Teknikdalen Foundation has helped initiate around fifty projects. In collaboration with the University of Dalarna we have brought together researchers and
business to create a masters programme in ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems and Services). Within the field of materials refinement we have helped develop two advanced laboratories
used by various companies and the university.
Board
Today the Board of the Teknikdalen Foundation consists of representatives of the founders. These are: Stora Enso, Swedbank, SSAB, Swedish
National Road Administration, Borlänge Municipality.
In addition, University of Dalarna, Swedish National Rail Administration and Falun Municipality are represented on the Board.
